my lack of posting
for now, check out one of my other blogs - PGHMOD - which chronicles the move to my new atomic ranch in 1950's ridgewood manor - modern living : pittsburgh style.
bento lunch blogging in the burgh
vegetarian sloppy joe sandwich with american cheese and lettuce (wrapped in plastic), carrots, kashi crackers and garlic herb laughing cow cheese, whole wheat fig cookies, and some crazy japanese candy (basically m&m's). the sloppy joe recipe is from vegetarian times, and is fantastic. i highly recommend.
spinach/carrot salad with sesame ginger dressing and nori rice crackers, crackers and garlic+herb laughing cow cheese with some japanese strawberry cookies, potato leek soup, and orange slices with dried cranberries. those little nori rice crackers are delicious, they taste so much like sushi/wasabi.
so the other night we made some more sushi, this time involving some canned unagi and fried bean curd skin. the inar were so easy to make, and i have a large surplus of them hanging out in the fridge right now. they are great little snacks.
besides the unagi maki and inari i had one misc. kanpyo/shiitake/avocado roll, along with edamame, potato leek soup, and a spinach carrot salad with sesame ginger dressing.
yesterday marked the first appearance of the mr. bento friendly garlic & herb laughing cow cheese, accompanied by some crackers, along with a new soup for the week - potato leek. my main course was leftover cheese tortellini a la vodka from the hot metal grille in the south side, and dried blueberries, cranberries, and yogurt raisins.
i highly suggest those cardboard-packaged soups for mr. bento, they contain approximately 5 bento sized servings, which is just perfect for a week of soup.
in fact, there was way too much seaweed salad. i simply could not handle eating that whole mess, for it was the most flavorful thing i may have ever eaten. in fact, a bit too strong in flavor.
besides the seaweed salad, i brought a riceball sprinkled with sesame seeds, sesame jimmies if you will, and some more potato soup and... a blood orange, which was a tart little mofo.
rice ball with seasoning, the sweet potato soup you are used to seeing by now, orange slices, and some wasabi green peas. yeah i know, nothing too exciting, but i did go to the store tonight and bought some new stuffs, so there should be some exciting things coming up next week, like kanpyo, gyoza, etc.
avocado/fat free cream cheese rolls, shiitake/avocado rolls, edamame, day #3 in a row of sweet potato soup, and some no sugar granny smith applesauce, with some added cinnamon and clove. i have to go prepare today's lunch in mr. bento right now, and i'm not really sure what to bring... besides soup.
i gotta say this is my favorite mr. bento pic so far. tryin to get a lil more creative with the angles.
you know you gotta love the crazy strawberry panda cookie/raisins/caramel corn rice cake face in the upper left corner bowl. besides that, today's lunch consisted of more sweet potato soup with sage, b/c its so damn tasty, along with some orange slices, and a curry tuna salad sandwich on pitas. i wrapped the sandwich in plastic wrap, because i wanted to make sure the rice bowl didn't smell like tuna for the rest of its existence. i'm sad to say the the delicious potato soup has stained the soup yellow, possibly forever.
last night we made some sushi, and i have a bit leftover in mr. bento today. you'll have to wait till later to see the photo though.
