mr. bento enjoys mr. potato

po tay toe

today's lunch consisted of wonderfully delicious veggie chik'n nuggets, sweet potato soup with a touch of sage, low sodium goldfish crackers with cashews and sunflower seeds, and a fresh spinach salad with walnuts the sweet potato soup was a definite hit, and i'm glad i have more of that left in the carton in fridge. it's fairly low in sodium too, for soup.

this was the first of the bento lunches that was prepared completely in the morning, with no preparations the night before. hopefully one night soon i'll be making sushi with smoked salmon and cream cheese... yum.

Getting up early is nothing to write home about. Why is it that the ones who show up at work at 6:45 am are always the most high-n-mighty?

As Mark Sandman of Morphine said, "Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man a woman, miss out on the night life". Put that in your Mr. Bento.

I was going to ask you about that. I've been packing mine in the morning. I also cook the food at work in the microwave. Do you always pack your food cold, and cook it later?

Also, are you a vegetarian? I notice you eat salmon, but "veggie chicken" nuglets. That sweet potato soup sounds delish, and makes me think of this really yummy soup I make that has sweet potato cubes in it. It also has white beans, swiss chard, onion and garlic, but it's in chicken broth with chicken too. It's really incredible, but I guess you couldn't eat it if you're a veggie. Hmm, how does this blogging work? Can you answer my questions? Maybe I should have flickr'd these comments...

haha i can answer here, you'll just have to check back. i'm a pseudo-vegetarian, i pretty much stay away from all meat except seafood, which i can't give up cuz its too tasty and good for me.

i commonly prepare foods for mr. bento that can be eaten cold. some items like edamame i cook the night before, and eat cold the next day. i obviously have to heat up the soup at work, but thats about it.
